The Little Friends Scholarship Effect

One of our key goals at Friends with Dignity is to ensure children living in domestic and family violence–affected environments can go on to live happy, healthy, and inclusive lives.

That’s why we created the Little Friends Scholarship — providing up to $500 per child to help cover education costs or extra-curricular activities that would otherwise be out of reach due to financial hardship.

So what does a scholarship actually look like to a child?

  • Being able to afford a school iPad to participate in classroom activities.
  • Joining a soccer team and scoring their first goal.
  • Having the uniform and art supplies they need to feel confident at school.
  • Going on a camp with classmates and making memories they’ll never forget.

But don’t just take our word for it—here’s what parents, carers, and support workers have to say about the impact these scholarships have on the children they support.

They share how something as simple as a uniform, an iPad, or a music lesson changed not just a school day, but a child’s confidence and sense of belonging.

Our next round of Little Friends Scholarships is fast approaching:

  • Applications Open: Mid-November 2025

  • Applications Close: Mid-February 2026

  • Applicants Notified: As soon as possible during the application process

  • Funding Disbursement: As soon as possible during the application process

There are many ways you can help children impacted by domestic and family violence. You can get involved as a sponsor, or support the program more broadly by contributing to our Little Friends Scholarship Community Fund—helping kids access the experiences, opportunities, and confidence they deserve.
