Noble Friends Award July

Winners Spotlight Presentation

Volunteering at Friends with Dignity really is a thankless task – and we’re ok with that.  Our difference is that we are not in contact with those experiencing domestic violence but are the behind-the-scenes people who provide financial support and new home sanctuaries to those fleeing situations.

Internally though, our Board and Leadership Team understands that it actually takes a community of volunteers to provide the support that we do.  And we want to recognise our volunteers who are making a difference in people’s lives on a daily basis.

Our quarterly Noble Friends Award aims to identify and celebrate the Volunteers of Friends with Dignity who go above and beyond in their service.

Dawn Noe – Brisbane

Position:  General Volunteer

Core Value:  Significance, Certainty

Nomination information

Dawn is always cheerful and calm, coping with the many requests for help and expertly producing everything needed. It seems effortless but no one else could do so much, so efficiently. It seems no problem is too hard, no request asking too much. She’s been a wonderful source of information, support and help for newer volunteers learning the ropes. I don’t know how we’d cope without Dawn’s reliable, unflappable presence and consistent provision of so much that goes unheralded but is vital to our core services.

Lea Rafferty – Perth

Position:  Donations Coordinator Perth

Core Value:  Contribution

Nomination information

Lea went above and beyond her role. She was, and still is, the first person to put her hand up to help in any capacity she can. She team led the last three sanctuaries in Perth and coordinated Urgent Requests. She is always willing to assist with local knowledge when those of us on the East coast need.

Elizabeth Sprott – Newcastle

Position:  Donations Coordinator

Core Value:  Contribution, Certainty

Nomination information

Elizabeth (and her husband) are the backbone of the Newcastle branch as storage coordinators and so much more. Always making time to help and to ensure FWD has enough in storage to set up a house no matter what the specification. They are just amazing, and we would be lost without them. We all appreciate it everything they do!

If you too would like to make a positive difference in the lives of those living the effects of domestic violence, take action and volunteer with us today!
