We are delighted to announce our keynote speaker, FWD National Ambassador Rosie Batty. Rosie is an outspoken and dynamic crusader against domestic and family violence and was named Australian of the Year in 2015.

Rosie will also be available to meet and greet during the event and will be personally signing copies of her best selling book ‘A Mother’s Story’. Copies will be available to purchase at the event or bring your own, all proceeds raised from the sale of these books will go towards Friends with Dignity.

Katrina Blowers, senior reporter, and presenter for the Channel 7 Network based in Brisbane will be our MC. She is known for covering all the big stories in recent years, including the Commonwealth Games, Royal visits, the Gerard Baden-Clay, and Gable Tostee murder trials and the Dreamworld tragedy.

Katrina also has a keen interest in politics and has been embedded with the press packs traveling with leaders during state and federal election campaigns, providing coverage for the Seven Network and Sunrise. She reported on Barack Obama’s G20 visit to Brisbane, gaining exclusive behind-the-scenes access. We are excited to have Katrina join us at our Brisbane High Tea with Friends this May.

What We Do

SANCTUARIES

Working with the community, we source pre-loved and new household items to fully furnish homes (Sanctuaries) within 7 days for Survivors of Domestic and Family Violence enabling them to move forward with purpose, dignity and hope.

URGENT REQUESTS

Providing essential items on a time critical basis (less than 48 hours) to survivors and refuge centres which may include household items and crisis packs of personal care items.

FRIENDSAFE PROGRAM

The FriendSafe Program provides monitored personal safety alarms to individuals or families affected by Domestic and Family violence throughout Australia to be used in conjunction with their Safety Management Plan.

LITTLE FRIENDS

Aims to ensure that child survivors are not disadvantaged in the transition to a safe environment by supplying items designed to provide comfort and educational support.

LITTLE FRIENDS SCHOLARSHIPS

We provide bi-annual monetary scholarships to children who have faced Domestic and Family Violence throughout Australia. These scholarships give these children the ability to either further their education and/or participate in extra-curricula activities that they may not be able to pursue due to the financial impact of Domestic and Family Violence within their family environment.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & AWARENESS

Actively working within our communities to encourage individuals, groups and organisations to Step Up and become part of the solution, Speak Out against domestic violence and assist in providing Support to survivors.
